Built In Pittsburgh is a great community of folks. They host a regular event called Speak Freely.
For the next Speak Freely event, they scored John Thornton to speak. John is the CEO of Astrobotic. Astrobotic makes space robots. Or, as the description from Built In Pittsburgh says:
Astrobotic is pioneering affordable technology for navigation, mobility, and robotics in space. Using a third party launch vehicle, we deliver payloads to TLI, lunar orbit, and the lunar surface. Potential payloads range from prospecting and science instruments today to infrastructure, mining, and even tourists tomorrow. These platform capabilities enable a new era of exploration, science, mining, satellite, servicing, tourism, and resource utilization.
Astrobotic was spun out of Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute in 2008. It has been awarded over a dozen NASA contracts, including contracts for lunar mission design, as well as lander and rover development.
Sign up today! The event is right around the corner.
Why am I so excited about this? Because it is a chance to listen to a guy talk about making robots that go to space. For free!
