Doing Our Part
The Fort Pitt Web Shop manages or sponsors several community-oriented programs. We set aside about 20% of our work week to manage these volunteer projects and it is time that is not “billable to clients”.
Technology Training for the Long-Term Incarcerated
Fort Pitt Web Shop appreciates the many challenges these individuals will face upon re-entering society. We firmly believe that technology should not hinder that process, but assist in it.
Status: Currently exploring funding partnerships.
Entrepreneurs in Training
The Fort Pitt Web Shop, with partners at the URA and Duquesne University, is building partnerships with Pittsburgh-area colleges and universities with the goal of providing their students with the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship while still in school.
Student participants are tasked with undertaking a review process of the coworking spaces in Pittsburgh and reporting back with a final assessment piece.
Status: Currently in a ‘pilot’ program. Two EIT’s from Duquesne University are participating. Their assessment piece will be a short film which they have shot, edited, and produced on their own based on location-filming at various Pittsburgh coworking spaces.
The documentary screening date has been announced!
